We have a large garden and some fruit trees plus some plots at the nearby community garden. When we have more than we can eat before it goes bad, we're happy to sell it direct from the farmhouse. Check in with us at produce@royalblueroosterfarm.com to find out what's available or add yourself to our waiting list for future produce.
Coming Soon: Popcorn
We grew enough popcorn this year to supply us for the next 7 years. Currently the popcorn is drying out, which takes about 6 weeks. When its ready, we plan to sell it for about $1 per 1/2 cup serving plus the cost of the jar. We sell it in glass jars and metal canisters that can be re-used many times, and will accept glass jars or metal canisters back for re-use. Alternatively, bring your own jars or canisters that we can fill up with popcorn to improve sustainable re-use of your own jars. We may also sell the popcorn still attached to the cob for $2 for each ear of corn, or $1 for the small ones, so you can have fun with your kids actually taking the corn off the cob and then popping it. We recommend air poppers for home-grown popcorn as the kernel sizes vary significantly so they pop at different rates. Check with us in mid October if you'd like to purchase some popcorn.
Grapes
We raise three varieties of concord grapes. The seedless ones come ripe in early August, seeded ones good for making jam come ripe in late August, and the plump seeded ones come ripe in early September. We generally sell them at a rate of $5 for 2 lbs.
Peaches
Our peaches ripen at the end of July into the beginning of August. They are smaller than the Georgia peaches you typically find at the grocery store. But they pack all the deliciousness into that smaller space making them super sweet and wonderful. We sell them for $1 per peach. Smaller peaches, or ones that are over-ripe or under-ripe may go for less, especially if you plan to make jam from them.
Tomatoes
Our tomatoes come ripe throughout July and August and much of September. Prices vary depending on what's available. Let us know if you're interested and we'll let you know what we currently have on hand and what it would take for us to part with it.
